ABOUT MLS NEXT

MLS NEXT provides the best player development experience in North America. Founded on

collaborative approach to governance and a commitment to innovation, MLS NEXT players have access to the highest levels of competition and to training to prepare them for their futures, both in soccer and in life. 

 

To provide the best player development model and experience, we prioritize the following: Coaching, Environment, Individual Growth, Competition, Talent Identification and Development. MLS Next is the top youth program in the country with a current membership that includes 133 clubs, 590 teams, 11,000+ players across the U.S. and Canada and features over 90% of the current youth national team player pools.

 

MLS Next offers a 10-month season giving our players the opportunity to play at the highest level with exposure to professional scouts, college coaches, increased training, and meaningful competitive playing opportunities. 

 

WFF MLS NEXT PROGRAM

  • 4 practices per week. Players are expected to attend all practices to be considered for competition in games.
  • Each team plays approximately 30 league games, including showcase games.
  • 10-month training season 
  • Players are expected to follow WFF MLS Next program physical periodization. 
  • VEO Game Recordings
  • Individual Player Development Plans (IDP)
  • Exposure to US Youth National Team scouts/coaches
  • Exposure to MLS Pro Academy Scouts 
  • Exposure to professional team scouts 

 

MLS NEXT TEAMS

WFF will field four MLS NEXT teams at U13, U14, U15, U16, that train 4 times a week and play a nationwide schedule. Trainings will follow a structured curriculum used throughout the world’s top youth academies. 

 

OUTSIDE COMPETITIONS

MLS NEXT players and teams cannot play in any outside competitions without written permission from MLS NEXT Administrators. This includes any other leagues, middle/high school season, tournaments, ODP or State Cup competitions.
