West Florida Flames Competitive Program is for the committed youth soccer player looking for a higher-level soccer experience. The program creates a challenging environment that fosters player development through professional coaching, competitive matches, and a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
The WFF Competitive Program is for the 8U through 19U (7 to 18 years old) age levels for both boys and girls. The players in the Competitive Program begin their youth soccer experience in the Recreational (Classic) programs that starts at four years old. Once a West Florida Flames player is 7 years old (8U), the choice can be made whether to continue playing Recreational soccer or join our Competitive Program.
West Florida Flames Competitive Program allows our players to compete on the national stage. It requires a commitment from both the players and the parents. All players are required to attend two soccer practices per week and the players in the 13U ages and up are required to attend three practices a week. In addition to team practices, the club provides weekly additional technical skills, striker/goalkeeper and goalkeeping training sessions. All players must be in proper West Florida Flames training attire.
To be a part of this program, every player goes through an annual tryout process beginning in the month of April for the following season. Players are selected to teams based on their appropriate skill level and in some instances, are dual rostered onto teams within their appropriate age groups to accommodate the growth of development. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for any child that is willing to be a part of this program. We may have numerous teams in an age group to help further every player’s development.
All of the coaching in the Competitive Program is conducted by professional coaches under the direction of the West Florida Flames coaching directors. Each team will be assigned a professional coach. The club’s philosophy is to have the club develop the players. Therefore, there will be more than one coach impacting each player’s development. The Competitive teams participate in the U.S. Soccer Girls Development Academy (GDA), US Club Soccer’s National Premier League (NPL), the Florida Premier League (ENPL), the USYSA National League, Region III Premier League (SRPL), The FYSA Florida State Premier League (FSPL), the Club Directors League (CDL), and the United Soccer Associations USA League (USA League), based on the team’s age and development level.
Appropriate level teams are formed at all campuses.
